Introduction: Barbera is an Italian varietal which is very popular in the Piemonte region of North West Italy. The wines made from barbera usually have a deep red colour are medium bodied and have a refreshing level of acidity.
The Vineyards: The grapes for this kosher wine come from our Safsufa vineyard, in the Upper Galilee which is located in the foot hills of Mount Meron, at an altitude of about 620 meters.
Winemaking: Close proximity of the vineyards to the winery allow the grapes to be processed as soon after picking as possible. Initial fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, and the wines were pumped over every day in order to ensure maximum colour extraction. After pressing and malolactic fermentation the kosher wine was racked into year old French oak barrels for just under a year, before bottling.
Tasting Notes: Barbera is a deep purple colour, the nose is intense with raspberries, rose petals and sweet confectionary. The kosher wine is medium bodied with a refreshing acidity and has soft and velvety finish.
