Style: intense red purple color. Very aromatic with aromas of ripe cherry, blueberry jam and macerated berries, layered with sweet oak notes and hints of cacao & spices (vanilla, clove, and a touch of anis). A generous, fruit driven, modern wine.
Technical Data: 10–14 days on skins at about 82ºF followed by malolactic fermentation and 10 months in American oak barrels (mostly new).
The Harvest: a cold and rainy winter followed by an unusually warm month of May encouraged vigorous spring growth, and presented a real challenge for the winegrowers. The ripening period enjoyed very comfortable weather: average temperatures in June and August and cooler than normal temperatures in July and September, ensuring wonderful ripening conditions and very high quality fruit throughout the harvest period, which lasted for 10 weeks.
