Psagot Winery is situated high on the Benjamin Mountains overlooking the Kelt Valley, the Dead Sea, and the Edom Mountains. In 1998, Naama and Yaacov Berg planted their first vineyard of wine grapes and the winery was established in 2002 by the son Yaacov and his wife Na'ama.. While cultivating the site, they discovered a splendid cave from the Second Temple period, including an olive press and a wine press – powerful evidence of the ancient wine industry that flourished in this favorable winegrowing region. The cellar is now housed in the cave, where the wine matures in French oak barrels in a natural environment that offers 90% humidity and a temperature that never exceeds 18 degrees, without refrigeration. The winery produces 50,000 bottles a year, including Cabernet, Merlot, Chardonnay, Viognier and a ruby-style Port.
